From the reviews
MAR delivered one of the best dining experiences I’ve had on the Morehead City waterfront. As a local, I’ve eaten at many of the restaurants in the area, and this meal truly stood out. The grouper was an absolute 10/10—perfectly prepared, fresh, and full of flavor.
Every detail of this restaurant is polished and posh. We were greeted by Eric with a BIG warm smile when he opened the door for our reservation. We were seated by the windows with a gorgeous view of the waterfront. Our server was knowledgeable and professional. We ordered the fire cracker shrimp as our appetizer.
A great addition to downtown morehead city! The food presentation is something that never existed downtown morehead before Mar and the atmosphere is amazing, I will definitely be a regular visitor!!! I went for a girls night tonight, but it is also the perfect spot for an intimate date night.
Fantastic dinner on opening night. A great addition to the Crystal Coast fine dining scene. Beautiful interior, great location, and truly delicious meals. One small, very minor critique… please consider linens instead of paper napkins. Thank you so much.
Getting married at Mar Restaurant & Waterfront Venue
Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see the ceremony spot at the exact time of day you'd say your vows — a west-facing beach glows at sunset but bakes at noon, and you'll want to feel the wind, watch where the sun sits, and walk the path your guests take across the sand. Second, bring your real questions: the weather backup (where does the ceremony move if it rains or the wind kicks up?), who pulls the beach permit, the sound-ordinance curfew, the catering and bar policy, and exactly what's included — chairs, setup, and teardown on sand are where quotes quietly diverge. Peak beach dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
