From the reviews
This place is special from the home to the location to the staff and food. I can't recommend this place highly enough. Every dish was delicious for our table of 8. The service impeccable. The ambiance-including it's carefully preserved historic decor to the friendly piano player-pure perfection.
Beautiful location across from the beach. The restaurant is excellent with occasional piano music while you dine on their delicious food. I've never stayed overnight here but I understand it is world class. This is my favorite dining experience in Cape May.
Peter Shields lived up to the hype! Exceptional service, beautiful views, and superb food. Lobster bisque was flavorful with large pieces of lobster meat and small pieces of corn and carrots that added a delightful sweetness and finished with sherry. Cape May salts were delicious and fresh.
I had such a wonderful evening dining here in such a beautiful setting. The mansion itself is absolutely stunning, and the view of the beach made the whole meal feel special and romantic.
Getting married at Peter Shields Inn & Restaurant
Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see the ceremony spot at the exact time of day you'd say your vows — a west-facing beach glows at sunset but bakes at noon, and you'll want to feel the wind, watch where the sun sits, and walk the path your guests take across the sand. Second, bring your real questions: the weather backup (where does the ceremony move if it rains or the wind kicks up?), who pulls the beach permit, the sound-ordinance curfew, the catering and bar policy, and exactly what's included — chairs, setup, and teardown on sand are where quotes quietly diverge. Peak beach dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
