From the reviews
My wife and I did a one day getaway. And it was the most romantic, peaceful, serene and high end dining experience for our 24 hour vacation. The lodge is perfect for a couple that wants to relax, enjoy the ocean breeze. You truly do get to see where the river meets the ocean.
Went there for dining only. Location of the restaurant couldn’t get better than it. We couldn’t see the sunset due to weather but if you could, go there before the sunset! Food had a great variety and was decent - we tried the clam chowder and duck rolls followed by the elk steak (recommended at rare or medium rare).
Stayed 2 nights in the Headlands House. Absolutely incredible place with Great views of river and ocean. We saw two bald eagles flying around both days. We also ate dinner at the restaurant. Elk rare was great, girlfriends loved the Passat and prawns, but the duck confit eggs were were the best thing we had.
This is literally one of the finest dining experiences in Sonoma County. They should have at least 2 Michelin Stars. The sunset on the deck is breathtaking. Bert and his staff making the experience perfect. And don't drive home, stay in one of their amazingly perfect cabins or houses on the water.
Getting married at River's End Restaurant & Inn
Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see the ceremony spot at the exact time of day you'd say your vows — a west-facing beach glows at sunset but bakes at noon, and you'll want to feel the wind, watch where the sun sits, and walk the path your guests take across the sand. Second, bring your real questions: the weather backup (where does the ceremony move if it rains or the wind kicks up?), who pulls the beach permit, the sound-ordinance curfew, the catering and bar policy, and exactly what's included — chairs, setup, and teardown on sand are where quotes quietly diverge. Peak beach dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
