10/10 — no notes. But if I did have notes for anyone looking for a place to stay near Bar Harbor, here’s what I’d say: Salt Cottages is a charming little community of coastal cottages that feels thoughtfully curated from the moment you arrive.
We stayed here during our trip to Acadia and we absolutely loved it. This place is so quaint and cozy. But not just the rooms, the facilities too! Our first day there was very rainy and foggy, so we sat in the clubhouse, played some board games, and enjoyed complimentary warm cookies and hot chocolate.
We were looking for a place to spend our honeymoon and stumbled upon the Salt Cottages via TikTok, and thank goodness for that! Salt Cottages is located about 7 minutes from Bar Harbor, 30 minutes from Bass Harbor - meaning there are a multitude of options on how you spend your time there.
Last minute family vacation was amazing because of this place and the great staff! The property is awesome, beautiful cottages, and great location. The extra professional friendly staff are really what made it perfect - the two staff working on Memorial Day evening were so awesome.
Getting married at Salt Cottages
Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see the ceremony spot at the exact time of day you'd say your vows — a west-facing beach glows at sunset but bakes at noon, and you'll want to feel the wind, watch where the sun sits, and walk the path your guests take across the sand. Second, bring your real questions: the weather backup (where does the ceremony move if it rains or the wind kicks up?), who pulls the beach permit, the sound-ordinance curfew, the catering and bar policy, and exactly what's included — chairs, setup, and teardown on sand are where quotes quietly diverge. Peak beach dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
