Fantastic grounds with gorgeous well maintained trails leading out to several beautiful views of the ocean with benches for sitting and enjoying. Parking was easy and we hardly saw anyone, a really nice break from the large crowds in the main park on MDI. Bring bug spray.
This is an excellent visitors center. The volunteers are super friendly and informative about things to do on the Schoodic Peninsula. The facility is spotless and well maintained and has multiple restrooms too. We had a delightful chat with them staff. The. Scenery on Schoodic Point is spectacular.
So beautiful a place, leaving brings tears to my eyes. On vacation and made a mistake, ended up staying in the wrong location for several days. Turns out it was the best mistake ever! Water crashing wind blowing cold, Bundled against the elements. I long to return.
Such a cool place! Very friendly staff, great educational materials, and amazing views nearby. It's worth a visit.
Getting married at Schoodic Institute
Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see the ceremony spot at the exact time of day you'd say your vows — a west-facing beach glows at sunset but bakes at noon, and you'll want to feel the wind, watch where the sun sits, and walk the path your guests take across the sand. Second, bring your real questions: the weather backup (where does the ceremony move if it rains or the wind kicks up?), who pulls the beach permit, the sound-ordinance curfew, the catering and bar policy, and exactly what's included — chairs, setup, and teardown on sand are where quotes quietly diverge. Peak beach dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
