From the reviews
It took us 1.5 hours on Saturday morning to get there from Northwest Houston area due to the traffic by the NRG stadium due to the Houston Rodeo and Livestock Show. Free parking, nice fishing areas near the big rocks (be careful going down), and a mostly sandy beach area for swimming but the water was cold.
One of my favorite spots to come visit and just hang out and relax. Used to be visited by a lot less people. However over the years, seems like there's are more fisherman here everyday than their used to be. Parking can be difficult at times, but still a great stop to enjoy the view and enjoy the water or sun.
Brought my teenagers to the Jetty to fish and my 8 year old to the beach and able to keep an eye on everybody. Not crowded. Mostly families. I felt very safe. No lifeguard but there is a bathroom and a restaurant closeby. Also we saw several surfers and a kite or surfer. Kinda neat.
No entry fee, free parking, nice little covered playground. Restrooms dirty but worked. Great views on the jetty - great place to walk or ride a mountain bike. Partially paved; people pull wagons with fishing gear or kids.
Getting married at Surfside Jetty County Park
Surfside Jetty County Park is a public beach or park, so a ceremony here almost always needs a permit from the managing city, county, or state parks office — and the rules matter: many public beaches cap your guest count, set ceremony windows, and restrict what you can set up (some ban chairs, arches, and amplified sound entirely). There's no on-site coordinator, catering, or weather backup, so you'll bring your own vendors and a rain plan. The payoff is a stunning setting at a fraction of a private venue's cost. Start with our public-beach permit guide, then call the local office to confirm this season's rules.
