My first time in Door County and I found this gem amongst all of the options to stay. This will be my go to for all of my future visits. The owner was very friendly, the location was beautiful, the cinnamon rolls and juice in the morning were prefect to get your day going.
Best kept secret but not for me anymore! My new annual location for the family summer vacation. Never need to leave, has everything my toddler could want: sandbox on the water, heated pool & hot tub, nice playground. Plus bikes, kayaks, pickleball/tennis/bball court. Unreal sunset out room window.
Just had the most relaxing vacation at The Shallows Resort. Nothing better than having Lake Michigan out your back door, a picturesque resort with beautiful sunsets and wooded area. Lori and her staff were very nice and kept the property extremely clean.
This was our first visit and stay in Door County ever. The Shallows was a wonderful little spot for these first timers. The views were beautiful, there was plenty of activities on the resort shore, and we were a quick distance from great things to do.
Getting married at The Shallows Resort
Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see the ceremony spot at the exact time of day you'd say your vows — a west-facing beach glows at sunset but bakes at noon, and you'll want to feel the wind, watch where the sun sits, and walk the path your guests take across the sand. Second, bring your real questions: the weather backup (where does the ceremony move if it rains or the wind kicks up?), who pulls the beach permit, the sound-ordinance curfew, the catering and bar policy, and exactly what's included — chairs, setup, and teardown on sand are where quotes quietly diverge. Peak beach dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
