From the reviews
This park is lovely & quiet. So many beautiful moments of nature to enjoy. Great for a picnic or a family day, a date or just quiet contemplation. The beach is lovely, but not for swimming. I keep coming back because it draws me in & isn't full of people.
Nice stop for a lunch or just to explore the beach and old pier. No real beach and the surf is far to rough for swimming but there are tidal pools you can wade in. There are bathrooms but no other facilities.
Beautiful place to watch the waves and enjoy a peaceful beach. It's not a typical sandy beach. It's lava rocks...But you can get in the water and explore the tide pools. The remains of an old pier are visible. This was a major port during the height of the Sugar Cane Plantations.
This was an unplanned stop, but so beautiful and worth the stop. There are many beautiful trees here and a great ocean view experience. I spotted a mongoose and a beautiful white bird here. Also, there is plenty of spots to picnic here.
Getting married at Whittington Beach Park
Whittington Beach Park is a public beach or park, so a ceremony here almost always needs a permit from the managing city, county, or state parks office — and the rules matter: many public beaches cap your guest count, set ceremony windows, and restrict what you can set up (some ban chairs, arches, and amplified sound entirely). There's no on-site coordinator, catering, or weather backup, so you'll bring your own vendors and a rain plan. The payoff is a stunning setting at a fraction of a private venue's cost. Start with our public-beach permit guide, then call the local office to confirm this season's rules.
