My wife and I were down in Georgetown a few weeks ago for a couple of gigs I had, and we were put up at the Winyah Bay Club. I had heard it was a place built to cater primarily to fishermen because of all the dock space they have. But little did I know that it's WAY MORE than just that.
We just returned from a lovely two-night stay and it’s safe to say this place earned every one of our five stars. This new property offers a perfect blend of luxury, relaxation, and that effortless coastal vibe that makes you never want to leave.
What a beautiful villa. The place was as clean a place as we have ever rented on AirBNB. Brand new and tastefully decorated. We needed nothing. Bed was super comfy! The full moon view over the water was spectacular. It was in a great location.
We had a wonderful experience at the brand new Winyah Bay Club! The cottages were immaculate - clean and spacious with plenty of great views and natural light. The set up at the Club is terrific with a great outdoor/community space and deep water docks.
Getting married at Winyah Bay Club
Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see the ceremony spot at the exact time of day you'd say your vows — a west-facing beach glows at sunset but bakes at noon, and you'll want to feel the wind, watch where the sun sits, and walk the path your guests take across the sand. Second, bring your real questions: the weather backup (where does the ceremony move if it rains or the wind kicks up?), who pulls the beach permit, the sound-ordinance curfew, the catering and bar policy, and exactly what's included — chairs, setup, and teardown on sand are where quotes quietly diverge. Peak beach dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
