We got married here 6 years ago and it's such a gorgeous location! It's nice to walk by and see them setting up for someone else's big day and know that they'll get to have that experience too.
Attended an anniversary reception at the Freight Shed. Very nice place and location. However, you will need to hire your own cater. But I give it a plus for the location and scenery.
My daughter was married outside and the reception was held inside. Beautiful place!
The freight shed is a great venue! We own Mermaid Catering and every year we cater the Yorktown Battlefield Volunteer's Annual Appreciation Dinner along with many other events. The small kitchen shed is great for prep space and they have tables and chairs included.
Getting married at Yorktown Freight Shed
Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see the ceremony spot at the exact time of day you'd say your vows — a west-facing beach glows at sunset but bakes at noon, and you'll want to feel the wind, watch where the sun sits, and walk the path your guests take across the sand. Second, bring your real questions: the weather backup (where does the ceremony move if it rains or the wind kicks up?), who pulls the beach permit, the sound-ordinance curfew, the catering and bar policy, and exactly what's included — chairs, setup, and teardown on sand are where quotes quietly diverge. Peak beach dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
