Beach Wedding Venues: Find Yours by City
The beach wedding endures for one simple reason: the setting does the work. The water is your backdrop, the sunset is your lighting, and the sand is your aisle — no ballroom to dress up, no view to manufacture. The 3,564 venues in this directory are every kind of coastal setting, from toes-in-the-sand beachfront to bluff-top oceanfront to calm bays and harbors and freshwater lake beaches — each one verified within a few miles of a real shoreline, so a "beachfront" venue is actually on the sand. Browse by city below, or start with the standouts.
What actually separates beach venues — and what to pin down before you fall in love with one: which way the ceremony faces (west-facing means sunset behind you); private or public sand (a private beach handles the permit and the onlookers; a public one is cheaper but you do the work); the weather backup (where do the vows go if the wind kicks up?); and lodging (a beach wedding is a destination for half your guests — can they stay on-site?). Every listing surfaces what couples and the venue itself say on exactly these questions.

Booking a beach venue: what couples ask
- How far out should we book?
- Popular beach venues book their peak Saturdays 12–18 months ahead — and "peak" is regional (see the best-time guide). If your date is flexible, a shoulder-season Friday or Sunday is the same water and light for often thousands less. If it's fixed, tour early and be ready to deposit — most venues host one wedding a day, so a booked date is simply gone.
- What does a beach venue cost?
- A wide range: from a couple hundred dollars for a public-beach permit to six figures for an all-inclusive oceanfront resort weekend. The number that matters is what's in it — chairs, setup over sand, a weather backup, catering, coordination. See the cost guide for the tiers and hidden line items.
- What's the weather-backup question, exactly?
- Ask it this way: "It's 4pm on our date and the wind is howling and it's spitting rain — walk me through the day." A good venue has a real answer: the ceremony moves to an indoor room, a covered pavilion, or a tent, and someone makes the call by a set time. A venue that shrugs is telling you the backup plan is you, in a dress, improvising. More in the weather guide.
- Do we need a permit?
- On a private-beach venue, they handle it. On a public beach, almost always yes — and the rules vary a lot (guest caps, no-chairs rules, sound limits). Start with the public-beach permit guide.
- Where does everyone sleep?
- A beach wedding is a destination for out-of-town guests, so answer this early: block rooms at a nearby hotel plus a shuttle, or pick a venue where everyone stays on-site. That last option removes the shuttle, the room-block spreadsheet, and the late-night drive in one move — we keep a list: beach venues with on-site lodging.
