We hosted our wedding reception here and it was absolutely incredible. Alondra the chef cooked an amazing multi-course meal with clam chowder, salad, steak and lobster, and lemon sorbet for dessert. The staff were able to reconfigure the dining room to fit our 30 person party and we had the best time.
We recently stayed at the Bass Cottage Inn and it couldn’t have been more perfect. All of the staff was excellent, so helpful, and friendly. The property was stunning, it felt safe, and was so convenient, a super short walk to all the action in downtown Bar Harbor and a super short walk to the coast to catch an early…
We had such a lovely stay at the Bass Cottage—we’ll definitely be back! Everything felt just right, from the beautiful hardwood floors and cozy fireplaces to the delicious breakfasts and even the thoughtful touch of local soap in the room. What really stood out was the hospitality.
I travel for a living, so I have a gazillion points across all the major hotel chains. If I book a B&B instead of using points at a Marriott or Intercontinental, I expect something special. Bass Cottage is special. The building is beautifully restored and meticulously maintained.
Getting married at Bass Cottage Inn
Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see the ceremony spot at the exact time of day you'd say your vows — a west-facing beach glows at sunset but bakes at noon, and you'll want to feel the wind, watch where the sun sits, and walk the path your guests take across the sand. Second, bring your real questions: the weather backup (where does the ceremony move if it rains or the wind kicks up?), who pulls the beach permit, the sound-ordinance curfew, the catering and bar policy, and exactly what's included — chairs, setup, and teardown on sand are where quotes quietly diverge. Peak beach dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
