“Beautiful blue water and even though there were a lot of people there was still so much room on the beach.”
“The only disappointment was that pets are not allowed on the beach in the park, but that policy is clearly stated.”
From the reviews
My wife and I set a goal this year to visit a state park every month and go camping. St. George Island State Park has been our favorite so far. Each park has its own charm, but this one truly stands out. There is real privacy, the beach is close, the trails are great for running or biking, and the views are incredible.
One of the best state parks we have experienced. Unusual for any campground, the campsites were mostly separated by trees and shrubs, giving a feeling of privacy even though the sites were as close as most. Each site also has posts with rings for hammocks, something we had never seen before.
St George state park is absolutely stunning. Not a bad rv site in the park. Sites are spacious and private sound by trees. Easy walk to beach. Several nature trails to walk.
As a longtime Clearwater Beach resident, I do not say this lightly: St. George Island State Park may be one of the only beaches I have ever visited that can stand beside, and possibly even surpass, “America’s favorite beach.” This place is an absolute beachgoer’s paradise.
Getting married at Dr. Julian G. Bruce St. George Island State Park
Dr. Julian G. Bruce St. George Island State Park is a public beach or park, so a ceremony here almost always needs a permit from the managing city, county, or state parks office — and the rules matter: many public beaches cap your guest count, set ceremony windows, and restrict what you can set up (some ban chairs, arches, and amplified sound entirely). There's no on-site coordinator, catering, or weather backup, so you'll bring your own vendors and a rain plan. The payoff is a stunning setting at a fraction of a private venue's cost. Start with our public-beach permit guide, then call the local office to confirm this season's rules.
