On the property
“Very quiet, convenient to the beach, beautiful grounds and having your own cabin is great especially when the weather turns sour like it did with us.”
What couples highlight
“The location and grounds are beautiful, huge shade trees, a very large shaded lawn between cottages and beach, lots of birds and a long stretch of nearly deserted beachfront.”
From the reviews
Beautiful little villa with a historic charm. The room we stayed at had some quirks, I think due to the age. Examples of quirks are the windows are kind of hard to open, one of the latches was stuck. Also one of the burners didn’t work on the stove which is also one of those old electric coil burners.
On most social media outlets, people talk about staying on the other side of Kauai, but our stay in the Waimea Plantation Cottages couldn't have been better. While the resorts of Poipu offer a different vibe, our family loved the tranquility of Waimea Plantation.
We really enjoyed the stay at the cottages. It is more like staying at a retreat than a resort, so a lot less touristy feeling. There is a ranch next door with cattle and horses, so you get more of a rural feeling. The beach isn't probably the nicest on the island but it was often empty and you had it all to yourself.
This is a special place. The location and grounds are beautiful, huge shade trees, a very large shaded lawn between cottages and beach, lots of birds and a long stretch of nearly deserted beachfront.
Getting married at Waimea Plantation Cottages
Two things make the tour worth the drive. First, see the ceremony spot at the exact time of day you'd say your vows — a west-facing beach glows at sunset but bakes at noon, and you'll want to feel the wind, watch where the sun sits, and walk the path your guests take across the sand. Second, bring your real questions: the weather backup (where does the ceremony move if it rains or the wind kicks up?), who pulls the beach permit, the sound-ordinance curfew, the catering and bar policy, and exactly what's included — chairs, setup, and teardown on sand are where quotes quietly diverge. Peak beach dates book 12–18 months out, so if the tour feels right, ask what's open in your season before you leave.
